“This 78-card tarot deck is a healing tool and guide to explore both the light and shadow sides of our nature.”

Ever since I saw a YouTube reader use The Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne in her readings, I knew I had to have it.

If you’re into modern boho, you’ll fall in love with the free-spirited imagery on these cards. The images evoke a sense of wildness, youthfulness and freedom that embodies the bohemian lifestyle. I totally get Coachella vibes from The Light Seer’s Tarot.

As Chris-Anne writes in her guidebook, “My goal was to create a happy deck that would lift me up, without sacrificing tarot’s incredible ability to illuminate any deeper meanings that hid beneath the surface.” She achieves this goal brilliantly and her tarot deck certainly adds a relatable uplifting modern touch to readings.

Modern Tarot Cards Spread

The Light Seer’s Tarot is a bright and colourful set of 78-cards based on the traditional Rider-Waite deck. It includes a black and white guidebook containing over 190 pages filled with detailed explanations of each card. Chris-Anne provides upright and reversed meanings, plus an affirmation for all 78 cards. I found this guidance really helpful to get to know the cards, not only for this particular deck, but for tarot as a whole.

Unlike some other tarot decks, The Light Seer’s Tarot has the name of the card written on each one, making it a perfect deck for beginners. I like to use this deck alongside the original Rider-Waite Tarot as clarifying cards. If I’m struggling to think of the words to describe a situation, I generally find that The Light Seer’s Tarot makes it easier to get my thoughts going. For me personally, this deck is especially useful for when I do relationship readings – the imagery has a way to convey the message perfectly.

I actually don’t have any criticisms of this deck. The cards are easy to shuffle and they lay out nicely on the table. I’ve read older reviews online about the “disappointing” quality of the cards, but my deck is great! The cards feel quite smooth and have a lovely matte quality to them. Whilst they are on the thinner side, I find this as a positive rather than a negative. Any thicker and it would be difficult to fit in your hands to shuffle. I also love that they come in a beautiful hardcover box for protection. I purchased my deck in late 2021, so perhaps the publisher has upgraded the quality since the first release.

Overall thoughts

If you’re looking for something free-spirited and colourful to add to your tarot collection, The Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne is the perfect addition. The dreamy illustrations are modern and stay true to the original meanings of the cards. I’ve come across some contemporary tarot decks where the imagery is a bit too abstract for my liking and I can’t relate to them in readings. The Light Seer’s Tarot is not like that at all and I find the cards just as easy to interpret as the original Rider-Waite. I believe that this deck is perfect for love readings, especially for young querents, as the imagery is relevant to modern young adults.
